Join us for Summer Workshops
2008 at Esalen Institute
We are fortunate
to be bringing a three-part workshop series to Esalen
this summer, for a complete healing and renewal of your
life passion and sexual vitality, with opportunities
for women, men and couples. The series begins with a
workshop for women, Healing
the Pelvic Floor, with Suzanne Scurlock-Durana,
CranioSacral instructor, which will help you learn how
to heal your pelvis from any difficult experiences you
may have had and reawaken your sexual energy.
This is followed by a weekend workshop for women, Designing
Your Personal Path to Healing, Wholeness and Vitality,
taught by Rachel Carlton Abrams, MD, Suzanne Scurlock-Durana,
and Lisa Carlton, life coach, where you will have the opportunity
to explore your overall wellness and develop a specific plan
to heal yourself and get the support you need to be a whole
and vital woman. Following this, Lisa and Rachel will teach
Living a Passionate Life
for women to fully explore and expand their passion and sexuality.
In parallel, Mark Nicolson, life coach, and Lee Holden, acupuncturist
and qi gong instructor, will teach Challenge
and Transition: Living a Passionate Life,
a workshop for men to explore their own life path, passion
and sexuality. Each day, the women’s and men’s
workshops will meet for an hour for shared learning or qi
gong practice (qi gong is a Chinese meditative movement similar
to Tai Chi).
These workshops are each independently wonderful, but as
instructors we have seen tremendous growth and re-emergence
in women who take all three, as each one enhances the next.
The men’s workshop is a rare opportunity for men to
do personal work alone or with a female or male partner around
issues of intimacy and sexuality. Treat yourself to a life-changing
experience at Esalen this summer! The dates and detail of
the workshops are below.
Esalen is a world-renowned
retreat center perched on the cliffs of Big Sur over the pounding
waves of the Pacific. Enjoy natural hot spring baths, professional
massage, organic farms and gourmet cuisine, hiking, art, and
daily movement classes.
Designing Your Personal
Path to Healing, Wholeness and Vitality

Led by Rachel Carlton Abrams (Holistic Physician), Lisa Carlton
(Life Coach) and Suzanne Scurlock-Durana (CranioSacral Instructor)
Join us for an informative and playful weekend of learning,
laughing and exploration. Gain insight into your personal
path to healing and wholeness through creative process and
sharing in women’s community. Develop a clear understanding
of your most pressing health issues, concrete ideas of how
you can help yourself, and know who you can reliably consult
to assist you in your healing. This workshop will support
you in claiming your power as a full and vital woman at every
age.
Living a Passionate
Life: Reawaken Your Sensual Pleasure and Essential Power
August 10-15, 2008
Led by Rachel Carlton Abrams (Holistic Physician) and Lisa
Carlton (Life Coach)
In this “women-only” workshop we will create
sacred community together through exploration, dance and movement,
meditative practices, connecting with nature, artistic expression,
and empowering and celebratory rituals. We will draw on the
wisdom of the ancient Taoist practice to help unlock and refine
our vital energy and sexual desire. You will be invited to
explore your own body’s limitless capacity for pleasure,
health and vitality. Our workshop stands alone for any woman—whether
you are single or in partnership with a man or woman.
